We value positive relationships with parents and carers to help develop better social and emotional skills in children. We know that when children are engaged with their learning, they attend school more regularly, leading to better long term outcomes.
For parenting and counselling services, visit the Family Support page, and for direction and clarity on regulations, processes and procedures at our school, read the Sydney Catholic School policies.
Communication at St Luke’s
The compass app is our main source of communication of the ongoing activities and events at St Luke’s Catholic Primary School Revesby. Our fortnightly school newsletter provides more detailed information about what’s happening in the school and is shared via compass.
Information about your child’s progress is communicated throughout the year and formally each semester via school reports. Class teachers are happy to discuss your child’s progress, please make an appointment if you wish to take up this opportunity.
Parental Involvement
Parents are welcome at our school. It is widely acknowledged that learning is enhanced when parents and teachers are recognised as partners in education.
Parents can be involved by:
- Assisting in the classroom or on excursions
- Involvement in our school and parish celebrations
- Supporting special activities such as athletics or swimming carnivals
- Engaging in parent forums
- Supporting school policies
Parents who wish to assist at school, are required to participate in annual parent helper training and induction, provided by the leadership team.
Homework Policy
Homework is beneficial to students at two levels. One is positive communication taking place between school and home, showing parents/carers just how well the student can work. The other is that of good learning habits that homework can develop.
- The organisation of homework will be mutually agreed across the grade.
- In planning the homework its purpose must fit within the context of the classroom program, and the expected outcomes of that program.
- Homework requirements and arrangements will be clearly stated to parents/carers at the first parent/carer meeting held in February of each year and in the Term 1 curriculum note.
- Homework will include a reading activity.
Maximum time allocations will be clearly stated:
K–1: 10–15 minutes maximum
Years 2–3: 30 minutes maximum
Years 4–5: 45 minutes maximum
Year 6: 60 minutes maximum
